First Annual Cars & Coffee at Winters Bros. Waste Systems in West Babylon

At Winters Bros. Waste Systems, we care about our local community, and this extends beyond waste removal and recycling into supporting community initiatives that better the lives of those around us. To show this support for our Long Island community, we recently sponsored a fundraising event called Cars and Coffee benefitting the Winters Center for Autism’s new job training center.

The event was held on September 18, 2022, at the Winters Bros. Waste Systems corporate office in West Babylon, NY. The Cars & Coffee event featured cool cars, family fun, and free coffee! Local car enthusiasts got to see vehicles of every type, and local Long Island businesses and families were able to connect with the community. Everyone involved, from those that registered vehicles for the car show to spectators, helped support the center’s mission to improve employment opportunities and wellness for adults with autism.

The Winters Center for Autism, a non-profit organization founded by Joe and Michele Winters in 2020, is a dynamic partnership of dedicated people working together to enhance the lives of adults with autism through fitness, recreation, and social programs, as well as job creation, training, and placement. Jobs give adults with autism a sense of purpose and belonging in the community as well as improving quality of life. Yet, the unemployment rate for individuals with autism exceeds 90%. The Winters Center for Autism is committed to changing that. To do this important work, we need the support of the community, and fundraisers like Cars & Coffee let us meet our goals.

Thank you to everyone who registered their cars to be in the show and to everyone who came to support our first annual Cars & Coffee fundraiser. The support received was more than expected. We are so grateful to those helping realize Joe’s mission of bringing purpose and fulfillment to adults with autism through the Winters Center for Autism. We are looking forward to doing it again next year!
